Aqua Bar at the Riviera International Conference Centre

DeFrae have worked closely with the Riviera ConferenceCentre in the renovation of the lovely Aqua Bar.  Here you will be able to meet, eat, drink and relax in style on our range of bespokely made furniture. 

Throughout our Bertie armchairs have been upholstered in Plains 6 from Scion Fabrics, Granite, Kingfisher & Colonial together with a light wood stain frame to ensure a light, contemporary feel. 

In the bar area our Laguna side chairs and bar stools ensure comfort and durability.  The Laguna's have been upholstered in matching fabrics to the Bertie armchairs with an addition of Scion Fabrics Breeze. 

In the lounge area our Sun two seater sofa's have been been upholstered in Granite. Various bespoke tables have been made in poseur, table and bar height using our very versatile Inox Square tablebases.  

The hand made tabletops Ash veneer tabletop have been stained to light wood finish with polished edges to match.

The Nicole, Harley & Nina side chairs, together with Nina bar stools have been upholstered in Farringdon Chalk by Sunbury Design to give the luxurious feel to each guest room, the restaurant and bar areas.

The Easy & Tonda table bases run throughout the bar and restaurant areas and have been fitted with bespoke tabletops stained to an ash veneer finish

Newcastle's new Quayside Cocktail Bar, Tiger Hornsby

Situated on the site of the renowned Julie's nightclub, Tiger Hornsby is a luxurious new Cocktail bar in Newcastle's famous Quayside district.

Newcastle’s Quayside is currently going through a bit of a renaissance. Popolo’s, formerly on Pilgrim Street, is set to neighbour Tiger Hornsby, and Ladhar Leisure have already opened Hop & Cleaver on the site of former pub Offshore 44.

Tiger Hornsby has been inspired by the Grade-II listed building’s late Georgian and early Victorian heritage and it was paramount that DeFrae worked closely with the client to ensure the theme ran throughout the decor.

Our Lincoln bar stools have been upholstered in the wonderful Mulberry Flying Ducks fabric which has been treated to sustain heavy use of a busy bar environment to all UK fire and safety regulations.

The Mulberry Flying Ducks fabric has been paired with Herringbone Tan and Gold Honeycomb Velvet to give a very sumptuous and luxurious feel across the bar area. 

 Our bar height Spot flip top tables complement the Lincoln bar stools.  The Spot is an uber contemporary table that enables easy storage and space for diners / drinkers to converse naturally in close company making it ideal for this cocktail bar environment.

Kartell's Masters Chairs designed by Philippe Starck complete the look in white, mustard and grey.  The Masters is a tribute to three iconic chairs of the past, the Series 7, the Tulip Armchair and the Eames Eiffel Chair.  Find out more about our Masters Chairs here

New look Homebase Design Centres

So we travelled to Waltham Cross today to see our Bertie armchairs in their new home of Homebase, Waltham Cross.

Upon arrival we found that Homebase isn't actually Homebase.  A new store has evolved called Homebase Design Centre.  We actually drove past as we didn't recognise the store as a Homebase.

Homebase Design Centre's have a nice new dark look and includes top brand names like Laura Ashley, Habitat, Sharps Bedroom and Home Office furniture and a really nice cafe.  They also have all the usual things you would expect from Homebase including DIY zone and a large garden centre.

Researching the Home Retail Group's website we found a little more about the new Homebase Design Centres explaining one that has opened in Worcester

'The new-look store on Elgar Retail Park, off Blackpole Road has a Decorating Ideas & Advice Centre, offering touch screen technology to help customers to transform the look of rooms in their homes. A free interior design service is also available, where City & Guilds trained decorating consultants can help them create personalised mood boards using real swatches of flooring, tiling, wallpaper and paint materials. Our Bertie armchairs were situated in the Decoration & Ideas centres and looked very much at home.  The Bertie's have been made especially for Homebase with Sunbury Design Nappa Gum & Bijou fabrics.

We thought the new stores were a real change and actually made for more of a Centre than a retail park store.  We had a little play on the touch screens and found them very responsive and gave us some ideas for our own house.  Of course the experience was heightened sitting in comfort on the Bertie armchairs.

We are delighted to see our furniture in these stores, if you have one near you then we do suggest you get down to have a browse around, you will be surprised.

Walking through the Milan furniture fair you can't help feeling that spring is in the air.  The colours surround you of pinks, yellows, greens, oranges and blues take you somewhere far away from the grey skies and rain that the UK's weather can bring.
